Create accounts
You’ll need three accounts in order for the Data Sync to work:
- An Akamai Identity Cloud account - securely stores access information for the Identity Cloud application from which to sync user data. This account is used to pull data from Identity Cloud.
- An Akamai Identity Cloud REST account - securely stores access information for the Identity Cloud application from which to sync user data. This account is used to add and update required metadata in Identity Cloud user records.
- A Salesforce Marketing Cloud REST account - securely stores access information for the Marketing Cloud instance to sync user data to.
Let’s set these up.

- In the upper right corner, click the Create icon ()
- Select REST > REST Basic Auth Account
- In the modal, provide a Label you’ll use to identify this account later (e.g. “CompanyName Prod Identity Cloud REST”)

direct_access
client in Console as the Username and Password
- Click Apply
