This document will guide you through configuring and implementing Identity Cloud’s Authentication APIs - the most flexible, custom-built approach to adding the Identity Cloud registration solution to your customer sites and apps.
When you complete this guide, you’ll understand the best practice for integrating APIs into your sites and apps that allow your end users to:
- Create a new account
- Login with a password or with a social account (like Facebook)
- Merge a social account with their user profile
- Verify their email address
- Reset a forgotten password
- Manage user profile information
In this guide, you’ll make RESTful API calls to the Identity Cloud using your platform or language of choice. We provide complete sample calls in cURL format. Make sure to complete the Gather Your Details section in next steps so we can auto-populate the calls for you.
If you’d like a quick way to test out all the calls in this guide, we recommend using a platform called Postman - a downloadable application for making API calls easily. You can download Postman here.
In this guide, we use your inputs to generate the calls for you in cURL format, which you can import into Postman:
- In Postman, click the Import button in the top-right corner of the left side navigation.
- In the resulting popup, click the Raw text tab.
- Copy the cURL call we provide into the text box and click the Continue button, then click Import in the next screen.
- Your call will be populated into a new tab in Postman. You can review the call as it is constructed in Postman, and click the Send button to make the call.
